DELE gives a diploma at one level: you pass or fail that level. SIELE gives a score and places you at a level from A1 to C1. The test format overview compares them in full.

How to Approach It

  • Use the preparation time for an outline, not a script. You may consult your notes, but reading them out is not allowed.
  • Cover what the lámina asks for. Task fulfilment is scored separately, so missing a point costs marks even if your Spanish is good.
  • Keep talking for the time given. Each tarea has a set length; short answers give the examiner little to score.
  • In role-plays and negotiations, react. Ask, agree, disagree and propose; the examiner may interrupt or disagree on purpose.
  • For SIELE, rehearse with a timer. Recording starts by itself and stops at the limit, so practise answering in 15, 30, 60 and 90 seconds.

Practice and Next Steps

Worked examples from real practice tareas, with answers and explanations, are on the speaking samples page. How points are calculated and what you need to pass is on the speaking scoring page, and common questions are answered on the speaking FAQ.
