Goethe-Zertifikat Schreiben: Scoring and Criteria

Schreiben is rated by two examiners against fixed criteria with fixed point steps. This page lists the criteria and maximum points for every Teil at every level, the rules that turn a task to zero, and how the module result decides pass or fail.

How Schreiben Is Scored

Two raters assess each performance independently on fixed criteria and the mean is taken, rounded. Each criterion has fixed point steps and no values in between.

LevelRaw pointsConverted
A115 raw points (5 + 10)raw × 1.66 = max. 25 of the 100 total
A220 raw points (10 + 10)raw × 1.25 = max. 25 of the 100 total
B1100 points (40 + 40 + 20)max. 100
B2100 points (60 + 40)max. 100
C1100 points (60 + 40)max. 100
C2100 points (20 + 80)max. 100

From A2 upwards, if task fulfilment (Erfüllung or Aufgabenerfüllung) is rated E (0 points), the whole task scores 0. At C2 Teil 2, any criterion rated 0 makes the task 0. At A2 a text with less than half the required words is rated E.

At A1 spelling only costs points if it gets in the way of understanding.
